Artistic Information

DESCRIPTION Bluebeard's Castle : Opera in one act based on the French literary tale "La Barbe-Bleue " by Charles Perrault. The young Judith has just married the cheerless Duke Bluebeard. She wants to know everything about him. She is able to accomplish this by opening the castle's doors, which are actually different ways into his soul. The work has been described as a psychoanalysis in which both the patient and the psychiatrist are destroyed. | La Voix humaine : Opera in one act composed by Francis Poulenc in 1958, based on the play of the same name by Jean Cocteau (1930). An elegant young woman in her cluttered bedroom answers a phone call from her lover, who is about to leave her. In this final conversation, she attempts to win him back by going from tenderness to passion, from threats of her own suicide to calm, from regrets to fits of violence.
